Dream wedding in the dream location - Donna & Jonathon at The K Club

I knocked on the door on a crisp December morning dying to get going for the day.  This would be a fantastic day, different to the norm... Why?  Because the door I was knocking at was that of Betty & John's house, next door to mine.  It was the morning of their one and only son's wedding.  When the door opened and I walked in I was surprised by the silence, the girls were all out having their hair and make up done, and the boys, all unassuming, were calm and collected.

As I sat waiting for them to come down I enjoyed the quiet relaxation in the house.  I had been seeing John work out the back for quite some time, hearing the drills and hammers of a man on a mission, the house had been refurbished for this wedding and that of Jonathon's sister Sharlene a few months earlier, I have to say, I bet he sits there every evening thinking all of the hard work was worth it as the house looks amazing.

I helped the boys with their buttonholes, as boys usually do they tried to do them but most required slight straightening and I left them to go and see the girls, I was so excited, I didn't even know yet the colour of the bridesmaids but I had this inkling that the dress may have a vintage twist.

I knew it I said as the dress was unveiled, in the perfect surrounding of a home decorated in pure old fashioned taste, stunning.  I got to work straight away photographing the details the shoes, the jewelry, the Jimmy Choo box...

I love watching the girls get so excited on a wedding day, the stresses of how the dress is going on, shoes first or last, what time is it, can you do these buttons, my nails are too long, there are so many stresses and worries about getting into this dress that I often say OK girls, let's just relax, start again, plenty of time and DON'T FORGET TO BREATHE.

And breathe they do, when it is on that is, sometimes they also cry!

Straffan is a lovely little Irish village in Co. Kildare, home to the K Club and a beautiful small church, idyllic and sweet.

There were moments during the ceremony where Donna was oozing so much happiness that I couldn't help but smile, the way she held his hand, looking at her ring with pure delight, she was the picture of perfection. The bridesmaids were tearing up and the Mammy's were proud as punch, a proud Mammy's smile on her child's wedding is second only to that of the bride, eyes gleaming with delight!

Despite being December, guests gathered outside for a chat before heading off, 5 minutes down the road for a lavish reception.

Within the walls of the main house, the K Club has a collection of reception rooms for guests to mingle, which they did with delight as we ventured outside for a few photographs.  There is no need to head off away from the house when just outside the door is the perfect location for couple shots.  With the kids running around in the grass, guests and family circling around with their own cameras I could not help but think how lucky we were with the weather that day.

The bridal suite offered another stunning setting just as our light was fading.

With a host of rooms to choose from Donna & Jonathon selected the larger reception room at the back of the grounds.  The room is stunningly draped in white from floor to ceiling with fairy light backdrops on the huge stage, the perfect backdrop for their delicious cake.

Electric Avenue provided the entertainment for the evening and had the guests dancing the night away.

After an amazing day, fantastic food, capturing plenty of dancing I headed of home shortly after 11pm, leaving behind Mr & Mrs O'Leary, dancing the night away.
